Meet the Malta Team: Julie Maurice

What sector do you work in and have you any thoughts to share about the industry right now?

I am based in the Malta Office at Affinity and work across all the sectors. I am new to CSP (but not new to yacht management) so I am currently learning more about the CSP industry.

Please tell us what led you to this career and how has it has progressed so far?

My career has been long and varied, it has not included corporate services so far but I am pleased to be developing my skills in a new area. I also like working with the team in Malta, they are awesome.

I started out my career as a theatre technician in the operating theatres in hospitals, this took me to many interesting places, including working in Saudi Arabia. After this, I home educated my four children until they went to college at 16. I then entered the corporate world and my next role was at yacht management company, Hill Robinson. Here I developed my expertise in financial services and built my industry knowledge in yachting, then I moved to Human Resources.

How is your day at Affinity and what do you do?

My day involves assisting and supporting the Managing Director and the Compliance Officer in different aspects of Administration and the office processes.

Are there any skills you are currently working on?

I have acquired a lot of skills – you do at my age, but I am always learning and studying. I recently have just completed my CIPD Human Resources course.

What aspects do you love about your job and the company?

I love living in Malta- I have only been here for 4 months so I am only just learning about the company values and I like what I am hearing.

Can you tell us your favourite way to unwind after a busy day?

I would say that my favourite way to unwind after work is going for a walk, spending time in the outdoors and nature is calming and relaxing.

Do you have any passions outside of work?

Some of my hobbies outside of work include playing the violin, I have played for 10 years and began because I wanted to challenge myself to do something I never thought I would be able to do. ( I am not musical by nature and never learnt an instrument as a young person)

I also design and create memory books using beautiful papers and images so people can keep photos, letters or cards as memories from loved ones in the pockets and pages I make. I made an art themed one for my daughter when she graduated with a first class degree in Fine Art, it had art images on every page and pockets and envelopes to keep her university memories in.
