Affinity is representing a global presence at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show
In this article, we catch up with our yachting team members across our Group jurisdictions including the Isle of Man, Malta, Cayman Islands and South Florida, to hear what they are currently working on in the yachting sector and what they are expecting to see at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show.
Monaco Yacht Show
The prestigious Monaco Yacht show is taking place on 25-28th September at Port Hercule, Monaco. The event will showcase a timeless collection of over 120 superyachts and around sixty luxury tenders from the world’s most elite builders and brokers.
Since 1991, the Monaco Yacht Show has been a premier event in the yachting industry recognised for its elegance and innovation. The show embodies the essence of super yachting and attracts top designers, naval architects, builders, maritime brokers, and other market experts to immerse themselves in every year.
In addition to this, there will be over 560 exhibitors showcasing the latest technologies and sustainable solutions that are shaping the way super yachts are evolving in modern day.
The Affinity Group yachting team will be there
Our yachting team members from across the Group will be representing our global presence, including our Assistant Managers in the Isle of Man, Kate Shaw and Debbie Gooding, our Directors in Malta, Joanne Fenech and Mattei Pisani and our Director in the Cayman Islands, Garry Crossan. Our Group jurisdictions are leading maritime hubs for our clients to structure in with attractive regimes and prestigious flags to operate under. Our global presence and bespoke services provide clients with vast opportunities inside and outside of the EU.
Isle of Man
We hear from Kate and Debbie in the Isle of Man on what they are currently working on in the yachting sector and what they are expecting to see at this year’s event. Kate said, ‘The last year has been particularly busy for us in the yachting department due to a number of reasons. Fortunately, we have always had consistent, organic referrals due to our close working relationships with lawyers and brokers in the sector, with many of these going back several years.
More recently we have been engaging with several yacht builders and project managers spread across Europe. We currently have 3 yachts in build, with a total of 6 new builds this year so far, including a 78-metre Feadhsip, Ferretti, Antonini Navi and multiple Oyster yachts, to name a few.
From yacht builders such as Feadship to smaller shipyards, our services go hand-in-hand with builders who have clients seeking to imminently register their yacht and set up their ownership structure to have the yacht ready to sail straight out of the shipyard. In addition to business coming from new builds, we have seen more clients coming from the middle east, such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, particularly for our yacht ownership structuring services. Our Group’s global footprint attracts clients from all areas of the globe due to the various solutions we can provide inside and outside of the EU.
Debbie also shares with us her thoughts, “I have particularly been busy with yacht registrations across various jurisdictions this year including the Isle of Man, Jersey, the Cayman Islands and the UK. With the Monaco Yacht Show around the corner, it is the perfect opportunity for us to meet with our global partners and as a premier event, it is also an ideal destination to network and form new relationships. We will continue to adopt our authentic approach in building relationships to grow organically in the industry. I am also particularly looking forward to seeing what developments are happening in the industry from an environmental perspective and to see the latest craftsmanship in super yachting.”
Cayman Islands and South Florida
Garry Crossan, our Director in the Cayman Islands, shares more about our yachting activities in the Caribbean, “Our engagement with yacht builders has also had a positive knock-on effect for our office in the Cayman Islands. Unlike many other jurisdictions, the Cayman Islands Red Ensign flag permits yachts to register while still in build, which provides many of our clients with a perfect solution. In addition to this, many clients appreciate the prestigious reputation the Red Ensign flag carries, with a maritime history that dates back to 1831. The jurisdiction also offers our clients many versatile ownership structures which opens doors globally.
To further expand our offering for clients outside of Europe, we can now set up yacht structures in the Marshall Islands and in our newly established office in South Florida. South Florida provides our clients with another premier destination to operate from. Apart from the obvious attractions, the tropical paradise just off the Florida coastline and all year-round boating weather, Florida offers a compelling fiscal landscape for yacht ownership structuring. And as a recognised yachting capital, its vibrant landscape offers exceptional yacht management services and state-of-the-art marinas.”
Malta
Our Directors in Malta share their insights on their current yachting activities and thoughts on the upcoming show, Joanne said “As a world-renowned yachting destination in Europe and with the summer season coming to end, we have been busier than ever in yachting. In addition to the various vehicles and regimes we have on offer for clients structuring their yacht, a key reason why clients choose Malta is our ideal location in the Mediterranean. We have clients from all around the world seeking to charter their yacht from Malta, knowing the prestigious reputation the flag carries. Mattei adds, “Monaco yacht show is always a perfect opportunity for us to meet with our contacts in the sector and we place significant value on our relationships. As a boutique company, we pride ourselves on our bespoke service and network of trusted partners that we are delighted to recommend our clients to.”
