Affinity Group appoints Charlotte Ronan as Isle of Man Director

Charlotte Ronan joined Affinity in August as a Director of Affinity (Isle of Man) Limited from Long & Humphrey Advocates, bringing several years of experience in the legal sector and an additional perspective on corporate and regulatory practices.

Having practiced as an advocate in the Isle of Man, Charlotte has an excellent understanding of the Isle of Man’s legal and regulatory framework. Charlotte has worked on multi-jurisdictional corporate and commercial transactions as well as advising on a wide range of litigation and disputes including professional negligence matters, director disputes, high value debt and asset recovery, employment, regulatory and trust issues.

Charlotte undertook a degree in Comparative Religion and Social Anthropology at Manchester University. She then went on to work in management for a period of time, before beginning her career in Law at Laurence Keenan Advocates & Solicitors. Charlotte’s professional experience working in the Isle of Man has enabled her to develop an integral understanding of the regulatory regime and application of AML and CFT requirements in the jurisdiction.

Charlotte moved to Affinity after working with the company for a number of years. Her longstanding relationship with the company means that she has a clear understanding of Affinity’s purpose, approach to business, rich history and corporate structure. Charlotte has an existing relationship with Affinity Group’s CEO, Andy Morgan from school who welcomed her new position in the company and her wealth of expertise.

As a Director, Charlotte will oversee the Isle of Man office and ensure the company maintains the high level of service it offers to clients. Charlotte’s position will include involvement in all of Affinity’s sectors, ensuring internal standards are upheld, overseeing performance to identify areas of improvement, boosting efficiency and streamlining procedures. Charlotte will also manage team performance by mentoring and supporting team members with their individual career development. Charlotte’s legal background adds an additional and valued perspective to the board and her existing relationship with the company, knowledge of the Isle of Man and regulatory awareness places her as an excellent strategic fit for Affinity.

Charlotte has a pro-active approach, a hard-work ethic and a real enthusiasm for new challenges, all of which make her a valued addition to the company. As we discussed her transition into corporate services, she placed real emphasis on the influence of Affinity’s approach to business and commitment to delivering excellence on her decision to join the company. She described how the company culture and progressive, well managed organic growth had been prominent factors in her decision to take on the position, stating…

My decision to embark on this new chapter with Affinity was a direct result of seeing first-hand the company continue to grow into one of the Island’s leading and most reputable corporate service providers, expanding its international presence whilst maintaining the highest professional standards and taking an active role in the Island’s community. However, the people at Affinity are what make the company what it is and I’m excited to join such a dynamic and progressive team.”

Affinity CEO Andy Morgan commented “I am delighted that Charlotte has agreed to join the team at Affinity. Having known Charlotte for a number of years, both personally and professionally, I have no doubt that she has all the requisite skills, ability and enthusiasm to oversee the development of our growing team in the Isle of Man. Most importantly, Charlotte is an excellent cultural fit for our team and buys into our fresh, ambitious ethos which we have successfully instilled over recent years. Charlotte is the first of several exciting senior staff appointments that we shall be making over the weeks ahead, following a period of sustained growth.”
